Inspired by the good weather, we decided to take a weekend trip. Further, we decided to head west and over water too. We left here on the Thursday night and had a brief stopover in Carlisle. The next day we drove to Liverpool to get the ferry across to Isle of Man. It was much larger, and more rugged that we had imagined. Some of the views to the south of the island were absolutely fantastic - heading down towards Port Erin and looking over towards Calf of Man were spectacular. We returned on the ferry on Sunday afternoon and made our way back home. A late arrival back, but well worth it.

Holland - Summer Holiday 2006

The Havelock family holiday this year was to Holland, and we had a great time. We set sail on the Superfast ferry from Rosyth overnight and arrived in Zeebrugge the next day. With the help of the TomTom, we made our way from Belgium over to Holland. We stayed near to The Hague, and were about 30 miles south of Amsterdam.
There were many highlights from our two weeks over there - including Amy and Andrew both learned to go their bikes without stabilisers. One of the lower points though was when Andrew broke out in one of the worst cases of Chickenpox we had ever seen. Poor soul really suffered. I think we managed to distract him most of the time.
We also had two trips to Amsterdam, which was an interesting place. As you will see we had a ride in a horse and cart around the city centre. That was good fun, but we did worry about landing in one of the very many canals.
We had a great holiday, and the ferry was fab. Enjoy some of the photos.
